Situation
The land is situated close to the quiet hamlet of Casterton; just one
mile from the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Casterton is idyllically
situated in the beautiful Lune Valley and lies mid-way between the Lake
District and Yorkshire Dales. Access to the M6 motorway at Junction 36
is approximately 8 miles to the west. The land is shown edged red on the
plan (below).
Directions
Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A65, signposted Skipton
and Kirkby Lonsdale, for approximately 7 miles. Turn left onto the A683
at Devil's Bridge (over the River Lune). Drive for a mile to Casterton.
On passing through the hamlet you will approach the entrance to
Casterton School Pavilion and Sports Field on the left hand side. Take
this left turn and head towards the Pavilion. The access to the land is
located on the right hand side in front of the Pavilion.
The Land
The land extends to approximately 11.81 acres (4.78 ha) of sound
pasture land with natural watering and is sheltered by surrounding
woodland. The land would be suitable for a range of uses including
livestock or equestrian.
Background Information
The land was originally in the tenancy of Beckside Farm at Casterton,
which formed part of the Underley Estate. The Farm was reorganised in
1969 when Casterton School acquired some of the farmland for their
development. Beckside Field was retained in hand under an Agricultural
Tenancy which was released in June of this year. A full right of access
(marked blue on the plan) has been retained and is fully documented by
the Estate for all agricultural purposes to the land.
